I'm a psychologist and neuroscientist at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Lübeck. My team studies the neurocomputational mechanisms of social learning  processes, the significance of circadian rhythms for how information is processed and its relevance for applied clinical research.

Circadian regulation of cognitive biases during adolescence

Adolescent depression is linked to cognitive biases and circadian rhythm disruption. How these rhythms influence learning and mood is unclear. This project investigates their effect on socio-emotional learning biases and tests interventions to stabilize rhythms.

Maladaptive self-beliefs are a core symptom of major depressive disorder. These beliefs are perpetuated by a negatively biased integration of self-related feedback. Understanding the neurocomputational mechanisms of biased belief updating may help to counteract maladaptive beliefs and the maintenance of depression.
