Mood symptoms vary throughout the day, yet mechanisms linking circadian rhythms, stress, and mood regulation remain poorly understood. This project investigates how circadian clocks interact with glutamatergic signaling and glucocorticoids to regulate mood and treatment efficacy.

The temporal dynamics of circadian and stress-related regulation of mood are poorly characterized, limiting optimization of antidepressant therapies.
Circadian clocks gate prefrontal glutamatergic and glucocorticoid signaling, regulating excitation/inhibition balance and mood.
We will determine how circadian timing influences ketamine’s effects on mood and prefrontal circuits, dissect central versus glucocorticoid-mediated mechanisms, and test clock-dependent interventions to optimize antidepressant efficacy.
